Monitor and control your sodium intake. If you can completely avoid using sodium, the better. Choose fresh food over frozen or canned goods. Some medications have high amounts of sodium. Check with your doctor about this.

Increase your consumption of green leafy vegetables. Vegetables are rich in vitamins, fibers, minerals and potassium that are all beneficial for your health. A vegetarian diet is also proven to lower blood pressure.

Fish oils are another means of maintaining your blood pressure and even your cholesterol level. If you don’t like the aftertaste of some fish oils, eating fresh fish like mackerel and tuna will do.

These food remedies and the benefits that they can give your body will prove beneficial in the long run. Take things one step at a time and make sure you incorporate all these changes in your daily routine. Lowering your blood pressure is easy. All you need is your dose of calcium, flaxseed oil, garlic, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, potassium and vitamin C and you’re on your way to a normal blood pressure.
